The Pelagi Virus
Coming Soon!
What if the cure for cancer was a single blade of seagrass? In The Pelagi Virus, it’s more than a remedy, it’s a genetic makeover.
When fifteen-year-old terminal-cancer patient Theresa Pelagi’s foot is cut at the beach during a suicide attempt, it takes only a single blade of seagrass to infect her body with the cure for cancer. What cures her makes her stronger, and changes her into a creature of the ocean. In fact, anyone with cancer who takes the cure is changed and compelled to enter the deep blue, but those who take the cure without cancer die, becoming fodder for the ocean’s denizens. Mother Ocean wants to live.
Theresa wants to save the ocean. Her mother wants her healthy and home. When Theresa and her newly-cured cancer friends begin changing, Theresa’s mother tries to keep her on dry land. Her boss wants nothing more than to dissect Theresa for a cure of his own. Theresa’s father is selling the grass as a cure-all. But when greed and fear clash with evolution, nature will have the last splash.
